Minutes of Board Meeting

July 7, 2008

The Landing

Meeting called to order by Lion President Missy Carr at 12:00 noon. Board members and Lions attending were: Maune, Brunner, Hopp, Hemsath, Litvan. T. Geisert, Mark Bayless David Politte, Jamie King, Hove and Hahne.  Absent were Schlump, Dickinson, Engel, Borgerding, and Jasper .

New Members:

Paul and Nell Redhage are sponsored by D.John Geisert. Reported that they met the new membership requirement of working events and attending meetings. Motion by J. King and Hahne that the board approve their applications.

Concert in the Park:

Friday July 11 @ Rennick Riverfront Park. Set up at 6:00pm. Band starts at 7:00pm. Lion Missy will chair event. Steve Leslie schedule to play. Expect larger attendance than prior Concert in the Park. Need chairman for next two Concerts in the Park.

Fair Parade:

Master chairman and set up Dr. Fred Peet and Bill Rennick. Three stand sites, Gerstein’s Parking lot chaired by Dr. Gerstein, Fifth and Elm chaired by Hunewill, and Main & Elm chaired by Dr. Radetic.  The margarita stand will be chaired by Jasper. Discussion on parade route and gator’s availability.  Recommendation to keep the stand locations at the same locations, just to reroute the gator routes.

Fair-Gates:

Friday Gates—Hunewill and Thiemann.

Saturday Gates—Dickinson.

Mixed Drink Stand:

Master Chairman—Mitchell.

Wednesday—Maune.

Thursday—Skornia.

Friday—Mohesky.

Saturday—Missy Carr.

Sunday—Jason Unnerstall.

Sunday Beer—Borgerding and Mark Bayless

Sunday Soda—Hemsath

Lion Mitchell has checked around for any new popular brands and has decided to keep the same menu as last year. Mixed reactions on keeping the Mixed Drink stand open till midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. Clarified the cost of the extra shot at the Mixed Drink Stand @$2.00 last year.

Fish Fry:

Scheduled at the Moonshine Equestrian on July 29, Social Hour 6:00pm. Our in-house specialist Lion Ralph Gildehaus has volunteered this year to oversee the deep frying this year.

Program Chairman:

Several months still do not have program chairman.

Fair Appreciation Dinner:

Scheduled for August 26 @ Rennick Riverfront Park. 6:00pm Social Hour, Meal 7:00pm. Reminder to invite non-Lions to event for their support at the Fair.

Senior Center:

Club has been approached to possibly cook for the Senior Center on July 22, 2008. More information to follow.

Baseboard Scoreboard:

Lion Hove has scheduled pictures of the scoreboard with Lion members with the Missourian this Tuesday immediately following the business meeting at Pop Barklage Field.

Dr. Francis J. Miller:

Lion Frank passed away on June 20, 2008.  Lion Bill Huber sponsored Lion Frank some 30 years ago. The Club made our tradition $50.00 memorial to Lions Clubs International Foundation.

Eric Durchholz:

Lion Eric received the Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian service to Lionism at the annual installation of officers banquette on June 24, 2008.

Leon Hove:

Lion Leon received the Clubs Outstanding Lion of the Year award on June 24, 2008.
